About This Site
Coca-Cola is a brand that anyone can recognize from just one aspect of it's visual aspects: the colors, the font, the ad icons, and more. It is also a brand that every age group is exposed to you, even children (as young as three!). This site was created to serve as a guide for analyzing Coca-Cola advertising throughout the 20th century. It can also serve as a tool and resource to help teach the idea of branding and advertising to children in an elementary school setting. Who I Am
My name is Katie Hardy and I am a senior at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where I am majoring in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and minoring in elementary education and educational media.. In short, I want to be an elementary school teacher. Another educational goal of mine is to learn educational technologies that I can use as tools in my future classroom.
I was raised in a household with Coca-Cola. From having it be a "treat" when I was little to seeing partnerships with my schools, Coca-Cola is an icon and brand that has surrounded me for years, I also love the taste of Coca-Cola and a lot of it's different flavors (but not Diet Coke). Conducting this research has been interesting, from a personal viewpoint and educational viewpoint. My love of history, and completing visual literacy courses through my educational media minor, as helped shaped this website to what it is now. I hope to educate my future students with not just the advertising power of Coca-Cola, but any consumable product on the market today. |
