Overview of Research
Coca-Cola is one of the most influential beverages in American history. It has managed to keep up with the changing world since its beginnings in the mid-1880s. Besides being a "delicious and refreshing" drink, it has used different methods of advertisements to best reach the masses, starting with just painted canvas and posters which later evolved to huge billboard ads and photographs to moving images on television and social media platforms. Coca-Cola's advertisements are intentionally composed to sell their products, and they use different elements to accomplish that like color, pathos, typography, and layout. Looking through the 20th century of Coca-Cola advertising, one can see how America has a nation as evolved as well, eventually becoming more connected to the global world we live in today.
The video above only provides a minute snapshot of some of Coca-Cola's most famous video ads, it does not even include print advertisements. Throughout this website, you will find Coca-Cola advertising divided into four "eras" which highlight some of the award-winning marketing techniques and visuals created by the Coca-Cola company. In each era, there is a list of slogans used during that time, to help give you, the viewer, of the tone the Company was trying to create when making these advertisements.
